The History Channel has a website called History.com that is a good resource. They have short video clips, photos and interactive games. They also have "what happened this day in history" as a feature. It's all free, so that's nice. You can browse by topics too.
I have purchased many of the history videos and my kids have always enjoyed watching them. They have a special right now, 3 DVDs for $30. There are many worth owning in your library. On one of those days when home schooling doesn't seem to be working, or you're ready to pull your hair out, pull out one of these DVDs instead. The kids will be happy. And you can have a break.
Sometimes you can find history channel DVDs on netflix too. Just search "history channel." Even cheaper.
